It's
a voluntary organisation who’s aim is to provide an annual outing, to
a suitable venue for children with disabilities & special needs, we
call it
"The
Jumbo Run"
What
makes it different?
The
children are taken to the venue in motorcycle combinations, 3-wheeled
cars & trikes, escorted by riders
on solo motorcycles. The children
are looked after by the same
rider or couple for the day. Solo
riders can also take care of a child at the venue if they want to.
When
is the Jumbo Run?
Its always
the 2nd
Sunday in September from Birmingham.
There is camping, catering, and a social night on the Saturday.
A weekend of fun for all the family.
How can you help?
Bring an outfit,
3-wheeler or trike for the weekend, or turn up on the Sunday.
If you ride a solo machine come along and help marshal the route.
Jumbo regalia is always on sale or make a donation at the Jumbo
stand.
Who
organises Jumbo?
A voluntary
group of motorcyclists, 3-wheeler & trike riders from around the Midlands.
Take a look at the motley crew in Dogs
of War.
Who
pays for Jumbo?
Volunteers
raise funds throughout the year with the sale of badges, models, toys
and video’s, at motorcycle shows around the country most weekends.
When
did Jumbo start?
The first
Jumbo Run was in 1961 and
started from Coventry. The
venue was Dudley Zoo. Details
of all the runs can be found in History.
